Manzushir Monastery, located in the lush Bogd Khan Mountain Protected Area, is less than an hour’s drive from Ulaanbaatar. Visitors can hike in the forested mountain slopes and explore the ruins of the ancient Manzushir Monastery, which served as a Buddhist temple before the People’s revolution and transition into socialist system.
Visitors have the option to hike up to the top of the mountain to “Tsetsee Gun”, a beautiful view-point that offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and a panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar. The hike is highly recommended for spotting local flora and fauna, but there are some steep paths, so come prepared in good hiking shoes! If you wish to do the hike, please inform the guesthouse reception as the tour should then start at an earlier time.
